“Having been in several ‘meat and potato’ indie bands the last thing I wanted to serve was a shepherd’s pie” explains Alfie Enzo, the brainchild behind Leeds band Walt’s Frozen Head. “Hopefully, this is more poached eggs and trifle”. Take that as you will, but it’s best seen as an explanation and ethos behind Walt’s Frozen Head, and the myriad facets that combine to make them what they are.
Blending a chaotic mix of influences such as prog, surreal comedy, synth pop, psych, horror, art rock and B movies. In theory, it shouldn’t work, on paper however… Taking as much inspiration fromTerry Gilliam’s cartoons as from ‘60s psych and avant-garde pop, the Yorkshire band are genuinely offering something different.
The bands name is based around the myth that Walt Disney requested that his head be frozen, to then be brought back to life in the future.
2025 saw a burst of activity germinating from Walt’s cryogenic chamber. 11 new songs emerged from the Tragic Kingdom birthing pool. While many of the madcap hallmarks are still present, the lyrics are more introspective.
The band has enjoyed phenomenal support from BBC Introducing, who invited them to perform a live session in April 2024. Autumn/winter will see Walt tour extensively including support slots with Embrace & Evil Blizzard.
The live shows incorporate film projections and stage props. A flow of singles and 2 EPs will be released over the coming months. A descent into madness has never sounded so good.
